Surely some of these aren't hard to find....
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Essendon Football Club Past Players and Officials Association are searching for over 60 potential members that played reserves for the club.

The association is seeking to trace reserve grade players who are eligible to be members of the Association, having played a minimum of 20 matches.

President of the Association Barry Capuano said the Association needed the help of the Bomber faithful.

“As part of our membership drive, we have been able to identify a number of past reserve grade players who played 20 or more games and are therefore eligible to members of our Association,” Mr Capuano said.

“We do not have any contact details for any of these players so hopefully this will enable us to track these players down.”

The following list of players played from 1968 to 1979 and 1983 to 1999 and the association would be appreciative if any readers are able to assist in tracking down these players.

    Winis Imbi ????????

I used to watch the twos back then, saw virtually every game at Windy Hill and I remember many of these names, but Winis Imbi ? New name to me.

    Anyone know anything ?

He ended up playing for North Melbourne as well. He was the year below me at St Patrick's College and was a very nice guy.

    Someone should ask McPhee's dad.

Thought I saw his name in a country league match report when I was chasing up father/sons a while back. Ovens/Murray maybe? Surely the club'd know about it if so though.

    I want a photo !

Back in the 1960's, all us kids had little books to get signed by our Footy heroes. I seemed to specialize in the wierd, bizarre guys who payed mostly in the seconds. When my Mum died and the house sold, my book was nearly sold at the garage sale, someone actually wanted to buy it.

    No Winis Imbi though !

I was searching for a current Don on Saturday night, his name was David Zaharakis

    No. McPhlee.
  • Are they serious they can't find Adam McPhee? A past B&F winner? Ridiculous!
  • And is that the same Jim Wynd that played over 100 games for Fitzroy?

    Full name: Jim Wynd
    Born: November 11, 1964
    Teams: Essendon 1984-85, Fitzroy 1986-94
    Height: 177cm
    Weight: 72kg
Debut: Fitzroy vs Essendon Round 9, Victoria Park, 24 May 1986

How could we not find him?
  • Fascinating list though certainly brings back the memories..

Kingsley is currently an assistant coach at St Kilda. Shouldn't be too hard to get in touch with. Maybe the Saints' pre-paid mobile is maxed out.

They could at least ask his kid, he's in the James Hird Academy isn't he? Hell, Adam probably drops him off at the club!

He actually won the reserves b and f in 98 and then Thompson took him to Norf.

Damn, everyone got in before me…

Though there are some other really obvious misses:

Dwayne Armstrong — is he Ross The Boss’s son-in-law?
Ben Collins — they know Top Gear is back on, right?

The saddest story is that of Ross Napoli.

After leaving Essendon, Napoli made a name for himself at South Fremantle and Coburg.

Sadly became a quadraplegic after an incident whilst playing and if you search Ross Napoli on Youtube, there was a fundraising event in 2001 at Crown that involved names like Sheedy and Carey. Even Hirdy, who had a column in the Herald-Sun in the late 1990's, wrote about the sadness on hearing of the news about the injury.

Yup. He was my PE teacher at high school.

And his dad was the lollipop man next to my primary school.
