Bendigo Finish The Year Winless
By David J Richardson
It was tight till half-time, but Bendigo grossly failed to use a strong wind to the eastern end in the third quarter, and got murdered by Werribee’s good use of it in the final quarter. Werribee’s defence was laughably bad, repeatedly coughing up the ball and keeping Bendigo in it. As noted elsewhere, none of Nash, Skipworth, Jetta, Quinn and Bellchambers played.
Daniher (kicked 2 goals, 2 points, and 1 out on the full — could easily have got all five, but otherwise barely had a touch) and Myers (played midfield, very well) were put in cotton wool at three-quarter time, shrinking the usable bench from the original five to just one. Scanlon and Holmes were amongst the best of the Bendigo-listed players.
