Well it certainly was an interesting afternoon at Windy Hill in fairly cool & breezy conditions. The players (& Knights) from yesterday’s win in Sydney were littered around the place and all seemed in very good spirits and good to see them supporting Bendigo.

I thought we had quite a fair run with the umpires, especially in the second and third quarters. Obviously had no result on the game but we certainly got some dicey decisions go our way. We had a LOT of opportunities to apply massive scoreboard pressure in these quarters but totally wasted the chances given to us. Geelong really weren’t 6 goals better than us today but got a sniff early in the last quarter and kicked some easy goals.

Myers, in my opinion, was the best player on the ground for us. He won the hard ball constantly and apart from the odd poor piece of decision making, would of racked us some impressive numbers. He will certainly be considered as a potential inclusion to the side in the next week or two the way he is going. A very impressive young man who seems to be playing with confidence now after it perhaps went missing a little earlier in the season.

I thought Zaharakis was fairly good but made some very costly decisions at times through the match, especially in the second half. I doubt he would be considered for promotion to the seniors on his performance today but he is still very young and raw with plenty of potential and will have a big role to play for EFC in the near future – just needs to finetune his disposal and decision making.

Neagle was… well, it was a typical Neagle game. Showed glimpses of pure class but wasted his chances in front of goal when he had them. His chasing and pressure was fairly good, overall.

Lovett-Murray played a solid game and played mostly in defence in the first half but when into the middle in the second half and set up a few crucial pieces of play. Was evident at times that he was a class above some of the players playing out there today. Will most likely get another opportunity or two this year but won’t be playing against the Bulldogs given the performance today.

Jetta was fairly good – but again, like Zaharakis, seemed to have some issues with his disposal and decision making. I hope for his sake he can turn it around and return to the senior side but don’t think he made a genuine case for selection today.

Bellchambers was solid, but that’s about all. Popped up here and there around the ground and seemed to move well.

That’s about all that is really worth noting from today. Bendigo really had their chances to win the game today but let themselves down with poor decision making in the second half. Probably their best performance of the season though.
