Davey Shines In Intra-Club

2006 draftee Alwyn Davey was the star of the Bombers first serious hitout for 2007 in an intra-club match at Princes Park on Saturday morning.

The brother of Demon star Aaron kicked three goals and put himself in line for immediate senior selection for the season proper.

“Davey, yeah. He’ll be a very good goalsneak,” Essendon coach Kevin Sheedy said after the game. “There’s no doubt about that … he looks like he can play abit.”

Skipper Matthew Lloyd and ex-skipper James Hird stood sidelines along with Chris Heffernan, Richard Cole, Andrew Lee, Jay Neagle and Ricky Dyson but all are expected to be available for the Bombers Pre-Season Cup campaign.

2006 Best & Fairest Scott Lucas again showed he is inline for a big season kicking five goals dominating Kepler Bradley while Courtney ‘The Messiah’ Johns finished with three for the game with him having the better of new Bomber recruit Mal Michael.

The Bombers will play the Aboriginal All-Stars in Darwin on February 9 in their first major 2007 hitout.
