- Thought Darcy Daniher was good in the second and third quarters. Presented well at half forward. Kicked a couple of nice goals
– Dean Dick had a purple patch in the third but struggled otherwise.
– Jason Johnson and Peverill led the midfield brigade, sometimes i think they get rotated on the bench too much at VFL Level.
– Jarrod Atkinson provided plenty of Dash off half back. Went forward in last term but played from behind when the ball was kicked into him – big chance to play next week in the 1s i reckon.
– Bellchambers rucked serviceble – couple of pack grabs was encouraging.
– Neagle struggled at half forward all day.
– Didnt notice Myers in the second half.
– Williams and Hooker have speed and good skill but they need more time in the 2s.
– Johns: Played full back all game. Probably got the best because he kept his opponant goalless. He didnt really do anything dazzling from defence otherwise. Looks like he’s slimmed down a fair bit too, and has gained a couple of yards in pace. With the Atkinson thing not working in the last quarter, Johns should have been the next foward option, however they kept him in the backline which suggests he will be in defence should a senior gig occur.

Overall, Bendigo trailed all day and at times looked as though they could get back into the contest, but when they did, Casey kicked fairly easy goals. Like the way Hickmont speaks to his group: loud, clear and concise, and encouraging to the young players.
